A constitutional amendment creating the post of prime minister was enacted in February 2009, and the new government was sworn in that month. However, in practice, Mugabe retained control of the powerful executive, and after that he unilaterally re-appointed the governor for the central bank, the attorney-general, and the police commissioner-general, as well as a number of senior judges and diplomats. Mugabe also refused to swear in MDC-T deputy minister Roy Bennett and all of its provincial governors, appointing Zanu PF loyalists instead. Sources told The Zimbabwean that party supporters were being driven to the centres en masse and their names and identity particulars recorded for onward transmission to the local Registrar General’s offices for registration as voters.   The applicants do not have to physically visit registration offices. The practice is most pronounced in Uzumba and Mudzi districts - Zanu (PF) strongholds – where party councillors are working with village heads, who have reportedly been given the task of mobilising villagers to register . I was disturbed to see the Pope hand-in-hand with a well-known dictator Robert Mugabe, a man who has caused untold sufferings to his own people. The man has inflicted pain and suffering to the people of Zimbabwe with great relish. The pope is quite aware, that the Mugabe is under a travel ban, and it is with good reason. It could be that His Eminence is still new to matters of the state, nonetheless, stupidity and immorality are the properties of such man as Robert Mugabe, we would have expected the Pope to be a man of good morals and where possible of awesome intellect.
