MUGABE TOO OLD TO RULE!!

Is Mugabe too old to rule us for another five years? A ploy to rule forever “Zimbabwe urgently needs a new competent government with national and international goodwill under a new leader, not a reshuffled cabinet led by a failed and discredited sunset president who wants to cling onto power through mendacious means when he should be leaving office.” (October 29, 2006) “The time has come for Zimbabweans in crucial national positions in government and related state institutions and within Zanu (PF) itself to realise and acknowledge without fear or favour that the problem is manifestly Mugabe.” (October 29, 2006) “He simply does not want to become a living former president with weakened immunity liable to prosecution by his successor or anybody else in or outside Zimbabwe with a human rights bone to chew with him.” (October 29, 2006) “A backdoor re-entry into power without the democratic mandate of the people through the polls is by definition not dignified.” (October 29, 20

SA SURVEY:: MUGABE DEFINATELY NOT AN AFRICAN HERO!!

Mugabe is not an African hero: SA survey The results of a recent survey of South Africans suggest that President Jacob Zuma’s statement on the Zimbabwean situation does not reflect the sentiments of the population of that country. Citizens of South Africa are almost unanimous in their conviction that Zanu (PF) did not achieve a landslide victory. Mugabe disempowered: 77% say YES Robert Mugabe’s iconic relevance for the African continent was dismissed by a massive majority of 87% of respondents. More than two-thirds of the population would like to see him stripped of authority. In rebuttal of popular opinion, that Africans are not willing to dethrone their hero (Mugabe), the survey points to the contrary: 87% did not subscribe to the notion that Robert Mugabe is an African Hero. In the Black population segment, 85% dismissed the proposition that Mugabe is a hero. 77% of the total sample maintain he should be overthrown and face charges for crimes against humanity. Commis

ZIMBABWE AFTER MUGABE`S LANDSLIDE VICTORY

MOST people who have suddenly turned against Tsvangirai have, in my opinion, realised that, in Zimbabwe, opposition does not pay. We have seen how the MDC-T has been treated since 1999. Tsvangirai has scars all over his body to bear testimony to this crude fact. I also know that those in the Zanu PF camp will say Tsvangirai invited it upon himself. This is the abyssal mentality from which Zimbabwean need to deliver themselves. It is not right for law enforcement agents to operate as private security for an individual. Does it seem right for the police to batter people who have not been convicted of any crime? I know this does not seem to be a problem for those who are benefiting from the status quo but what we must remember is that if we encourage this culture (and we have done this for very long) we will create a violent political culture that will stay with us long after Mugabe is dead. Did I just say “dead”? The unimaginable? The idea of Mugabe’s death scares the daylights ou

PRESSURE MOUNTS TO TAKE MUGABE TO ICC

UN urged to refer Mugabe to International Criminal Court The United Nations (UN) is once again facing pressure to take the lead in confronting Robert Mugabe and the crimes against humanity he is responsible for, by referring the matter to the International Criminal Court (ICC).   New York based advocacy group AIDS-Free World this week called on the UN Security Council to step in, warning that if there is no international intervention in Zimbabwe, more violence and human rights abuses could be seen there.   The warning comes two weeks after the highly disputed elections that saw Mugabe re-elected as President. The opposition MDC-T is challenging this outcome, saying the electoral process was clearly rigged and manipulated in ZANU PF’s favour.   AIDS-Free World co-director, Stephen Lewis, said Tuesday that this election outcome means Mugabe and his ZANU PF party has resumed “absolute control” of Zimbabwe. “What has happened is that because ZANU PF now has an absolute majorit

SADC & AU SHOULD CHANGE THEIR VIEWS ON ZIM

ZIMBABWE: The Way Forward Zanu PF is waking up to the reality that their carefully contrived and manipulated election has in fact created as many problems as it resolved for them. In the first instance they seriously over rigged the election and the evidence of that is flooding in. The observer missions are discovering that they have a lot to learn and are now reluctantly admitting that there is a great deal that is amiss. The Party (Zanu PF) is also discovering that they are unable to control the markets and there was no doubt about the reality of that – the stock market shed a quarter of its value in days and people are withdrawing their money from the banks. The banking sector is already very fragile and the run on their limited cash resources and liquidity is further exacerbating the problem. The view from Civil Society and the international community has been equally damming – all have condemned the election as a farce and some have called for a re-run. The President o
